Doc's Sleep Tips

Naturally Organic Sleep offers products that are made from natural and organic materials, including latex, cotton, and wool. Surrounding yourself in natural sleep products can help alleviate disturbances such as breathing difficulties and allergic reactions. We use natural and breathable materials that enhance deep sleep by creating a fresh arid sleep environment.

Unfortunately regulations now mandate that mattresses must to be "flame retardant" and to comply with this, many poison additives are routinely used which have demonstrated negative effects on health. Flame retardants such as PBDE's (polybrominated diphenyl ethers), boric acid and antimony are just a few of the highly toxic additives that are used, the long term effects of breathing in these fumes has not been completely established but it couldn't be good.

You do have a choice however, at Naturally Organic Sleep we offer healthy, chemical free sleep products with a simple prescription form that we will fax to your Doctor.  Once the Doctor's Office faxes back to us we can then provide you with a natural sleep system that contains only natural fire retardant fibers, such as wool.  Click on the Doctor to print out your own prescription form if you like.

As if a healthy night of rejuvinating sleep is not enough, with the prescription you will also be exempt from any sales tax, and your purchase is FSA Eligible. This means that if you have a Flexible Spending Account at work, where you have set aside your pre-tax earnings for your familiy's yearly anticipated health-related costs, your mattress can be purchased with your FSA card as a legitimate health expense. This is especially important as we near the end of the year because so many HSA & FSA plans carry a "use it or loose it" clause.  So, don't delay, claim what you have coming now, before it's gone, to ensure that your family receives the quality sleep experience that they deserve.

Since our non-waking hours - quite a chunk of the day - are spent in bed, it is especially important to take steps to minimizing the level of toxicity in our bedding. You may be thinking: "Who can afford organic, green bedding options?" Since the organic comes without the host of pesticide smothered fibers, toxic coatings and dust-collecting qualities, the question is can you really afford not to?

Don't underestimate the value of sleep.  Like proper nutrition and excericise, it is essential to feel our best. Without enough sleep, our senses dull and productivity decreases and mistakes and accidents are much more likely to occur. A study performed by reserachers at St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago suggests that the more REM sleep that we get, the more likely we are to awake feeling positive and upbeat. A better sleep, boosts the immune system, rejuninates the body, improves memory and motor activity.
